BJP politician Poonam Mahajan commented on R R Patil's statements on rape by saying the ruling Maharashtra government has been unable to stop crimes against women.
The Member of Parliament from Mumbai North Central told ANI that "What R. R. Patil said was correct because without change in government it is not possible to improve the conditions in the state".
"There will be a change in Maharashtra with in coming four months as the issue of protecting women against cruel crimes will be taken very seriously", she added.
Patil's statement in the Maharashtra Assembly that crime against women can't be stopped even if the government provides one policeman for every house has shocked women activists. Demands have also been raised for his resignation as well as accountability for the way the police force in his state was operating.
