President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday congratulated the participants and winners of the 35th edition of the National Games, which was held in Kerala, urging them to continue to bring glory to themselves as well as their community.
In his message, the President said that the National Games a forum for India's sportspersons to demonstrate the excellence that they can achieve, adding that sports and games are important for every community and society.
President Mukherjee also stated that the games promote national integration and inculcate, national pride, foster friendship, amity and a spirit of sportsmanship.
The National Games, which are held every four years, was hosted by Kerala for the second time since its inception. In this year's edition, more than 10,000 athletes competed in 33 events at 32 venues, winning a total of 1363 medals.
