Presidential election outcome in Iran not to alter nuclear policy, says Foreign Minister

Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has said that Iran's nuclear policy will not undergo any alterations even after the presidential elections in the country.

The minister's comments come after a televised debate among the presidential hopeful that the country might not go forward with its nuclear program, the Jerusalem Post reports.

The foreign minister said that despite different approaches on the subject of nuclear program, Iran's specific nuclear policy will be continued for peaceful purposes.

The debate had witnessed criticism against the policies of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the negotiations head representing Iran at the Iranian nuclear talks Said Jalili.

However, Salehi insisted that the candidates had presented their perspectives on the issue but it will not impact Iran's foreign policy after the elections.

Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also agreed with Salehi saying that the presidential elections in Iran will have no impact on the country's nuclear weapons or on arming Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
