Prez extends his greetings on eve of independence day of Guyana

President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday extended his greetings and felicitations to the government and people of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the eve of their Independence Day.

"On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is my pleasure to convey warm greetings and felicitations to you, the Government and the people of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the occasion of your Independence Day," he said in his message to Brig. (Retd) David Arthur Granger, the Executive President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, .

President Mukherjee said India and Guyana have traditionally enjoyed warm and friendly relations characterized by a convergence of views on many global issues of common interest.

"I am confident that our close friendship will be further strengthened and our cooperation diversified to our mutual benefit in the years to come. I take this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency my best wishes for your personal well being and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Guyana," he added.
