Protesting UPSC aspirants get NSUI support

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) today staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi in support of the UPSC candidates who are opposing CSAT in their exams.

Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely, who was present at the protest venue, blamed the BJP government for turning its back on all the issues it had raised before the elections.

"BJP Government is proving to be a u-turn government. They are backing away from all their promises. Why were the admit cards issued by UPSC if the students had been promised something else? If the students had not protested then nothing would have been done. NSUI is protesting today and I am here to show my solidarity," said Lovely.

He also added that the protesting UPSC aspirants had also met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who was sympathetic to their issues.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh, however, tried to assure the students today that the government was doing its best to help them out.

He said, "The government is worried about the situation. The government will never allow any kind of discrimination against the students. This matter will be resolved very soon. The youth should not be under any stress."

Aspining UPSC students have been protesting against the exam saying there is a need to change the second paper as it makes it difficult for people coming from rural areas of Hindi-speaking states to crack the exam.

The students argue that the questions asked in language comprehension skills are asked in English and no Hindi translations are provided. They want this to be changed.

Yesterday, the capital had witnessed vociferous protests by the aspiring UPSC candidates who said they were being discriminated against.
