Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Friday congratulated PV Sindhu, who became country's youngest individual Olympic medallist by clinching silver in badminton's women's singles event in Rio de Janerio, and said that the ace Indian shuttler won hearts with her splendid performance.

"Well played India's youngest individual @Olympics medal winner @Pvsindhu1. You have won our hearts with the splendid performance. #Rio2016," Tendulkar said on Twitter.

World number one Carolina Marin, known as the 'Rafa Nadal' of badminton in Spain, closed out a 19-21, 21-12, 21-15 victory over 21-year-old Sindhu who was absolutely ruthless in her Olympic debut.

The Master Blaster also congratulated India's chief Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand for developing 'wonderful Indian badminton talent'.

"Congrats #PullelaGopichand for helping develop some wonderful Indian #badminton talent to take on the world. Hats off & look forward to more!" Tendulkar said.

Last evening, Sindhu had created history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to enter the Olympics Final.

On the biggest day of her career, Sindhu never stopped fighting and has won the biggest prize in the history of Indian badminton - an Olympic silver, to go past Saina Nehwal's bronze four years ago in London.

With the feat, Sindhu has also become the fifth Indian woman to clinch a medal in Olympics history after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik.
