Rain plays spoilsport on Day 4, Australia-Pak MCG Test heading for a draw

Rain played spoilsport again on Thursday, the fourth day of the second Test between Australia and Pakistan, being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here.

Though the Australians hold the upper hand in match with a score of 465 for the loss of six wickets, a lead of 22 runs over Pakistan, a tame draw seems to be on the cards.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the weather does not seem promising for Friday as well, and should there be a full day's play, Australia would need to do something spectacular to pull off an impossible win and go 2-0 up in the series between the two sides.

The official word from the umpires is that they have decided to call it a day and go in for a half-an-hour early start provided the weather holds up.

The fourth day's play saw Australia continuing to plunder runs at a brisk pace against an erratic Pakistan bowling attack that leaked too many runs for their liking.

Resuming from their overnight score of 278 for the loss of two wickets, Australia took their score to 465 for the loss of six wickets.

One drop Usman Khawaja missed a well deserved century, scoring 97 of 165 deliveries before being caught behind of fast bowler Wahab Riaz. Australian skipper scored an unbeaten century, his 18th, of 96 deliveries.

Middle order batsman Peter Handscomb scored 54 of 90 balls, while Nic Maddinson scored 22 of 55 and wicketkeeper batsman Matthew Wade scored nine of 27.

Keeping Smith company at the crease was fast bowler Mitchell Starc on seven.
