Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was on Thursday honoured with the centenary award for Indian Film Personality of the year at the 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here.
Rajinikanth received the award from Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan.
Accepting the honour, Rajinikanth referred to Bachchan as his 'big brother'.
"To make a speech after Amit ji's excellent speech, I have no words. I am fortunate to be here today. I am honoured to receive this prestigious award," said Rajinikanth.
Earlier in the day, the IFFI 2014 was inaugurated by Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
Close to 179 films from 75 countries across different categories are scheduled to be screened during the 10-day long festival.
