Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday welcomed the arrest of self-styled godman Sant Rampal, and thanked the media, administration and the people for helping his government in this endeavor.

"For the last one week, the police and the administration were making all efforts in this regard. We arrested Satlok Ashram's Sant Rampal near Barwala in Hisar District. Our plan was to ensure that innocent people do not have to suffer and we become successful in it (arresting Rampal)," Khattar told ANI here.

Meanwhile, Rampal today rejected the charges that he had asked his followers to be kept hostage inside his ashram at Barwala to evade police action in a contempt of court case. He told the media that all allegations against him are false.

Meanwhile, Rampal is being produced in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the contempt case. The Punjab and Haryana High Court earlier cancelled his bail plea in a 2006 murder case. He was arrested yesterday late evening from his ashram in Hisar.
