'Revitalized' Marsh credits Langer for 'resurrecting' cricket career

Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh has credited former player Justin Langer with resurrecting the Western Australia domestic team after injuries and indiscretions left him a long way from the national team.

According to News.com.au, such has been the revitalisation of the talented but inconsistent left-hander that Mark Taylor believes Marsh, 30, is the man most likely to win a Test place in Brisbane next month ahead of George Bailey and Aaron Finch, who have been prolific during the current one-day series in India.

It would be a remarkable resurrection given Marsh's horrible 2012, the report said.

He began the year being dropped from the Test side after averaging just 2.83 in the series against India then was suspended from the Perth Scorchers with brother Mitchell last October when a number of players had a big night out during the Champions League in South Africa, the report added.

Marsh said of Langer that he was lucky to have him in his corner, adding that he feels he can use him to try and get the best out of him over the next few years.

He added that after what had happened in South Africa in the Champions League, Langer had been a huge influence on and off the field to get him back in good nick.

Marsh did fight his way back into the national side for the one-day series against India last September but suffered yet another hamstring strain which forced him to miss the opening two rounds of the almost completed Ryobi Cup, according to the report.
