Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Aug. 14 (ANI): Ace Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri, who has not been able to put up his best at the ongoing Rio Olympics, has said that he is a little disappointed with his performance.

Lahiri carded a disappointing two-over 73 to be placed tied 51st after the second round of the golf event yesterday. He totalled 147 at the half-way stage after dropping five bogeys and three birdies.

Talking to ANI, the Lahiri said that he was a little disappointed with how he had played but added the experience he was getting was invaluable.

oI have come in with some poor form and I have had some minor injuries. ItÆs unfortunate that the timing hasnÆt been good. I havenÆt really come on top of my game. ThatÆs unfortunate because you want to peak at the best eventsathat hasnÆt happened for me. There are a couple of departments in my game that I need to specifically work ona I will be targeting that in off-season. Hopefully I get another opportunity and get a chance to do something,o Lahiri said.

The ace Indian golfer also apologised for not having played his best at the prestigious quadrennial event.

oI would like them (golfers) to watch, like them to be inspired. It might not be an Indian who might get a medal, but they could be that person in the future. That should inspire them to have the flag on your head and to wear a tricolor and to represent your country at the greatest sporting event at the world. ItÆs not an opportunity a lot of us had but the future generation may have thata so inspire and try and be Olympians,o he said.

The round is yet to be completed with almost half of the 60-man field still on the course.
