Manchester United striker Robin van Persie admitted that he will play for a longer period at the highest level, quashing rumours of his retirement following a slow start to the season.

Van Persie stated that the age thing was not an issue for him at all as he was convinced he would play for many years to come at the highest level. He further said that everyone immediately puts the blame on the age factor if one hits 30 and goes through a bad spell simultaneously, the BBC reported.

Van Persie made a stunning return to form in the 2-1 win at Southampton as he scored both goals.

The United will play at home against Liverpool on Sunday.
