Real Madrid star winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a two-match ban for displaying his aggression against an opponent during his team's 2-1 win over Cordoba.
The Portuguese international was given straight red card for punching and kicking defender Edimar inside Cordoba's penalty area.
Ronaldo would miss home games against Real Sociedad and Sevilla in the next week but would be available to play against La Liga champions Atletico Madrid on February 7, Sport24 reported.
Following the incident, Ronaldo later took to Twitter saying that he was asking forgiveness from everyone, especially Edimar for his thoughtless act.
Currently, Madrid is one point ahead of its rival Barcelona in the La Liga table, with a game in hand.
