Russia has said it is disappointed that the United States cancelled bilateral talks in September.
President Barack Obama has cancelled talks with Russian president Valdimir Puitn on the sidelines of the G20 economic talks after Kremlin granted asylum to intelligence leaker Edward Snowden.
Putin's foreign affairs adviser said the move showed the US could not develop ties with Russia on an 'equal basis'.
According to the BBC, a White House aide said Snowden's asylum had deepened the pre-existing tension between the two counties.
The decision to cancel the talks, announced during a trip by the US president to Los Angeles, comes after Obama said he was disappointed with Russia's decision to offer Snowden asylum for a year, the report added.
