Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Major General Igor Konashenkov has confirmed that their warplanes have hit two terrorist drones, belonging to Nusra Front, in Syria's Idlib Province.
Shedding more light on the attack, the spokesperson said that the strikes were carried out on the identified terrorist targets.
"On the 4th of September, at night, the anti-aircraft weapons of Hmeimim Airbase destroyed two terrorist assault UAVs. In total, last month, 47 terrorist unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed. in the area of Russia's Hmeymim Airbase," sputniknews.com quoted Konashenkov, as saying.
"The Russian aircraft carried out all strikes solely on the identified terrorist targets, as confirmed through several channels, located far from settlements," he added.
Russia, along with Iran and Turkey, is supporting the Damascus in their struggle against the regional terror groups. It also provides the violence-hit country with humanitarian aid, the report said.
Syria, which has been devastated by years of violent conflict between military and government forces, is coping with regional terrorist organisations as well.
