South Korea and China have increased their close communication to peacefully resolve the North Korea's nuclear and missile issue.

"South Korea and China have beefed up cooperation in resolving the North's nuclear problem," the Yonhap News Agency quoted South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun as saying at an event hosted by the Chinese Embassy to mark the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

He also expressed hoped that the two sides would continue their close communication and cooperation to peacefully and fundamentally resolve North Korea's nuclear and missile issues and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula at a time when security situations remain grave in the region due to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile provocations.

However, Hyun also acknowledged that there are still challenges standing between the two neighbors.

"What is important is that the two countries work together to resolve this through close communication," he said.

Recently, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho had said the United States President Donald Trump has declared war and Pyongyang reserves the right to take countermeasures, including shooting down the U.S. strategic bombers.

After hearing Ri's speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump appeared to threaten regime change over the weekend, tweeting to say if the country's foreign minister echoed the thoughts of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un they "won't be around much longer."

However, the U.S. on Monday denied North Korea's claims that President Trump's tweet amounted to declaration of war.
