Former union minister Matang Sinh was produced before the Alipore court here on Saturday in connection with the Saradha chit-fund scam case.
Sinh, who was arrested by CBI's Special Investigation Team on February 1, was charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds related to Saradha Realty, one of the companies of the group which is being probed by the agency.
Earlier on December 23 last year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had reportedly attached a flat belonging to Sinh in Versova, Mumbai, and an entire building in Guwahati.
Earlier this month, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami had to resign for allegedly trying to stall Matang Sinh's arrest . He was replaced by L.C Goyal, a 1979 batch IAS officer belonging to the Kerala cadre.
