Boxer Sarita Devi, who had earlier refused to accept the bronze medal awarded to her after she had lost in a controversial bout during the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, today said that she was happy to receive the honour.

"I had accepted the bronze medal in Incheon, today I just collected it from the IOA office. I am feeling very good. I have accepted it with enthusiasm. Next time, I will surely bring the gold medal in the Olympics," said Devi.

"Getting a medal in Olympics is my biggest aim now. I am undergoing physical training I will try to qualify for the Olympics and by getting the gold medal I want to thank India for supporting and trusting me," she added.

Sarita also thanked cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for supporting her.

"I am very happy that Sachin Tendulkar supported me because he is a great player and he felt that way. The Sports Minister, Boxing India and everyone is with me. So, I don't need to be scared. I will again be able to enter the ring and try to win gold medal in the Olympics," she added.

Expressing hope that the International Boxing Association (AIBA) would cancel her suspension as soon as possible, she thanked the entire nation for standing with her during her bad times.

Earlier, the AIBA had suspended Sarita Devi and her coaches indefinitely due to her protest at the 2014 Asian Games.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal had last week written to the AIBA president, urging the organisation to cancel the pugilist's suspension.
