Saudi Arabia is reportedly working on extending the validity of residency permits of foreigner workers in the kingdom to five years.
According to Gulf News, while no time frame has been announced for the move, passport officials told local daily Al Madinah that the application would start soon.
At present, immigrants working in Saudi Arabia are required to renew their permits after completion of one year.
Nearly nine million foreigners, mainly Asians living and working in Saudi Arabia will benefit from the move that intends to ease mental and financial pressure on them.
The report said that the Directorate General of Passports is working on the final touches on the plan to introduce the five-year validity.
