Two of the world's leading Seafloor mapping experts have created an illustration of a new zone, where the tragic MH370 aircraft could lie on the seafloor.
The new design of the underground terrain could provide the exact location where the Malaysian Airlines flight may be positioned and the type of undersea automobiles could be used to find the missing aircraft.
According to American Geophysical Union, Walter H.F. Smith and Karen M. Marks, both of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry, created the seafloor topography map, and are currently a significant part of GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans).
Smith said that the topography might help the team of searchers choose the correct equipments for finding the missing airplane but he also warned that the map does not provide the exact position of the submerged aircraft.
He also added that the search for the missing plane is difficult, as very little knowledge has been acquired about the seafloor in the part of the Indian Ocean where the plane is assumed to have disappeared.
The map depicting the underground terrain shows graphics of the undersea mountains and plateaus rising beyond 5000 meters above the deep sea floor.
Reports suggest that the new illustration of a 2,000 kilometer by 1,400 kilometer area where the plane might be shows locations on the seafloor corresponding to where acoustic signals from the airplane's black boxes were reportedly detected at the surface by two vessels in the area.
