After a super rally in the early trade, the market ended with strong gains. The Sensex closed up by 564.60 points trading at 26,785.55. Nifty on the other hand surged by 168.40 points trading at around 8119.30.
Among the sectoral indices, the BSE Auto was the top gainer with a marginal gain of 1.6 percent. Tata Motors and Eicher Motors were the top contributors to the gains in the auto index.
Tata Motors, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, HDFC and Hindalco were amongst the top gainers while Maruti, Dr Reddy's Labs, Lupin, HUL and Wipro became the laggards.
