Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the second round of the China Masters Grand Prix in the women's singles event, while male compatriot HS Prannoy sailed into the third round of the tournament on Wednesday.
Sindhu, the two-time bronze medallist at World Championship, claimed a comfortable 21-16, 21-12 win over Natsuki Nidaira of Japan to progress through to the next round.
On the other hand, Prannoy produced a superior performance as the seventh seed outclassed local boy Huang Yuxiang 21-13, 21-11 in the second round contest.
In women's doubles, Jwala Gutta and her partner Ashwini Ponnappa defeated the Malaysian pair of Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean 21-16, 21-18 to reach the second round.
