Ian Mckellen is set to play an older version of Sherlock Holmes in Bill Condon's upcoming flick 'A Slight Trick Of The Mind'.
The 74-year-old actor, who earlier played the role of 'Gandalf' in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy and 'Magneto' in the 'X-Men' series, has been cast as the long-retired detective who is still troubled by an unsolved case from 50 years ago, the Daily Express reported.
Executive producer of the film, Aviv Giladi, said that the combination of McKellen with Condon is a perfect match for this "clever and intriguing project."
The flick which is expected to start shooting in April 2015, revolves around the aged detective with a weak memory and bereft his faithful sidekick Watson, as he tries to remember fragments of what has happened.
