Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General Aditya Mishra on Friday stated that although the situation at the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir is a little tense, it is under control as the army has been effectively curtailing infiltration attempts by militants based in Pakistan.

"The situation is a little tense but under control and we have been effectively retaliating to any attempts that they are making towards infiltration. Two- three days back there was an incident in which they tried to breach the fence and storm in but that was made unsuccessful by our efforts," Mishra told ANI.

"As of now, there are incidents of firing and shelling in specific localised areas. Yesterday, a shell fell on a house and three members of a family got injured. So, that creates a little bit of uncertainty and panic among the civilians," he added.

Mishra further reaffirmed that the security forces are effectively retaliating any attempts towards the infiltration in the night.

"We have noticed people trying to come close to the fence and attempt to infiltrate at night. After observing them, they have been fired upon," he said.

"We have noticed dragging marks, but in the last few days, there has not been any successful infiltration," he added.

On Thursday, three civilians were injured in heavy firing along the International Border.

As per sources, the forces from across the border started unprovoked firing around 8 pm on Thursday evening, targeting Indian forward posts and civilian areas.

BSF troops retaliated to the firing.

The injured have been admitted to GMC Hospital, Jammu.
