Chief Marshal Arup Raha said here on Friday that their battalion is always prepared for incidents of ceasefire violations, adding that their response has always been appropriate as the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) both are on patrol.

"We are always prepared; there are no tensions as such. This has been nothing exceptional. Our response has been appropriate, the army and the BSF are there, air force is not directly involved but things are not that bad as you think," said Raha.

Responding to the new government's inclination towards the army in terms of provision of latest equipments, Raha added, "There is lot of thrust being given towards indigenous production of military hardware and this government is also very serious about pushing it further to take it to higher level and obviously the armed forces are looking forward to indigenous products."

He also said, "They don't want to buy weapons and hardware from outside, we should be self reliant and there is going to be lot of activities in this direction and lots of policy changes."

Amid the ongoing incidents of ceasefire violations, the residents of the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed yet another night of heavy shelling and firing on Thursday and took to hiding in bunkers as yet another ceasefire violation took place in the area.

This is the fifth consecutive ceasefire violation by Pakistan since Monday.
