Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday appointed Snehlata Shrivastava, as Secretary-General of Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariat with effect from December 1.
Shrivastava will be the first woman secretary general of the Lok Sabha.
She will assume charge on December 1 and her tenure will end on November 30 next year.
The new appointment comes before the winter session of Parliament, which will commences on December 15.
Shrivastava is a senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer-1982 Batch Madhya Pradesh Cadre.
She is appointed as Additional Secretary of Department of Financial Services in Finance Ministry (MOF) Government of India (GOI).
