Sony has reportedly warned the new Viao convertible laptop users in the Us to stop using the hybrid as they revealed this week that the laptop is at risk of overheating and catching fire due to a faulty battery.
The Japan-based electronics company is currently identifying affected Sony Vaio Fit 11A's, which approximately 500 people in the US are currently using, by serial numbers and developing a program to repair or replace the affected PCs at no charge.
According to PC World, the Fit11A, one of Sony's latest laptops, which went on sale in February, reached 26,000 customers worldwide before the company halted sales after The Wall Street Journal first reported the fire risk news.
Majority of the customers who reportedly bought the laptop are based in Asia, Europe and Latin America, while just a sliver of sales was there in the US.
So far, three instances of batteries overheating and causing fire burns to PCs have come forward from China, Hond Kong and Japan, the report added.
