A South Florida police department in the United States is being condemned for using mugshots of African-American suspects for target practice.

According to Stuff.co.nz, critics have said that North Miami Beach is racially insensitive as the mugshots used showed only African-American suspects.

Florida National Guard sergeant Valerie Deant was left sickened at seeing a bullet-ridden photo of her brother while training soldiers and said that she cried a couple of times seeing the gunshots.

Miami-Dade County, Florida, police chief J. Scott Dennis said that no actions would be taken against these officers as they did not break rules by using those photos.

However, he said that it was very inconsiderate of the officers to use the photos. The use of actual photos for shooting practise is common in the department that includes minority police officers, Dennis added.
