Chelsea football team manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that his club is being treated differently, as the Portuguese contests a charge for claiming that there is a campaign to influence referees' decisions against his squad.

Mourinho mentioned that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was escaping sanction for shoving him during October's league match. He said that with Chelsea and with him the reactions are different.

Mourinho claimed that he does have a stadium ban for pushing a manager in the technical area, the BBC reported.

Ahead of Chelsea's trip to Swansea City on Saturday, the Portuguese also highlighted Manchester United defender Chris Smalling's unpunished handball against Stoke on 1 January.

The Chelsea boss said that he doesn't believe one would think that such a penalty against his side would have a reaction in the media and with managers in the same way.

He added that after that, the reaction would be double or treble, so obviously a referee needs to feel free, relaxed and with no pressure to do the best they can.

The Football Association issued a misconduct charge for Mourinho over his campaign comments, made after his side were denied a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Southampton on 28 December.

Mourinho said that referees are not guilty, adding that they want to do their best but clearly there are measures and there are ways of reacting.

Mourinho insisted that clearly with his club and in relation to himself there are different standards, adding that it's as simple as that.
