Sri Lanka levelled its ongoing ODI series against England with a crushing 157-run victory against the hosts on Sunday.
Replying to Sri Lanka's 256-8 in 50 overs, England scored a paltry 99 in 26.1 overs, reports the BBC.
For Sri Lanka, opener Tillakaratne Dilshan made 88 in Sri Lanka's respectable total of 256-8.
England were reduced to 29-4, as seamer Nuwan Kulasekara claimed three wickets for 15, while Sachithra Senanayake took three wickets for 13. Eoin Morgan top-scored with 40 as England were all out in the 27th over, their heaviest ever home ODI defeat in terms of runs and fifth worst anywhere.
England's previous lowest ODI totals were 86: v Australia, Manchester, 2001; 88: v Sri Lanka, Dambulla, 2003; 89: v New Zealand, Wellington, 2002; 93: v Australia, Leeds, 1975 and 94: v Australia, Melbourne, 1979.
