SRK lauds Dipa Karmakar's history making achievement

Shah Rukh Khan, on Wednesday, shared his words of appreciation for Dipa Karmakar, who after creating history by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics, sealed a gold medal in the women's vaults finals at the test event of the Rio Games.

"Finally our own Nadia Comaneci. Dipa Karmakar u r the pride of our Nation.Ur achievements inspire us.Thanks lil one," wrote the Badshah of Bollywood on his Twitter handle.

Some other B-Town celebs too tweeted to congratulate the 22-year-old gymnast from Tripura.

"Congratulations #Dipakarmakar ! Super proud!!!," wrote Lara Dutta Bhupathi.

"Awesome.. #DipaKarmakar ," tweeted Farhan Akhtar.

"Go #DipaKarmakar! Make India proud! Jai Hind! #WomanPower," read Vishal Dadlani's tweet.

"Congrats Dipa Karmakar for Olympics qualification.The first ever Indian women gymnast who qualify for Olympics. #TrueInspiration #Girl_Power," wrote Arijit Singh.

Karmakar displayed her best efforts as she scored 14.833 points in her first attempt to become the first Indian woman to clinch gold in a global gymnastics event.

Karmakar, who already created history by winning bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, scored 14.566 in her second and last tries, respectively.

Earlier, Karmakar exhibited a strong show as she finished ninth in the first of the four subdivisions of the women's artistic category to qualify for the Olympics.
