Swedish golf ace Henrik Stenson is reportedly aiming to become the first player to win the FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai in the same year despite a wrist injury.

Stenson, who earned 6.3 million pounds by winning America's end-of-season event, leads the European Tour going into Dubai's DP World Tour Championship finale.

According to the BBC, despite injuring his wrist before the first of the four events that make up the inaugural Final Series, Stenson finished 34th in the BMW Masters in Shanghai and followed that with a 31st-place finish the following week and then seventh in Turkey on Sunday.

Stating that he is focusing on playing the best he can with his circumstances, the world number three said that his number one focus is to win the Race to Dubai, adding that it would mean a lot to him as he is an European and grew up on the European Tour, which has a special place in his heart.

The report mentioned that the prize money for the tournament, which starts on Thursday, is awarded in euros, with each euro equalling a point, adding that the 994,000 euros on offer for the winner at the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates means that there is a further bonus fund of 2.35 million pounds to be shared between the top 10.

England's Justin Rose is second in the standings, just over 213,000 points behind Stenson, while Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is third, the report added.
