England batsman Jonathan Trott has said that he is hoping to earn his 50th Test cap in Monday's first Test against the West Indies after being recalled to the national side for the Caribbean tour.
Trott, the former batting mainstay, hasn't played for England since leaving the 2013-14 Ashes Tour prematurely because of a stress-related problem.
Earlier in the year, the right-handed batsman delivered a strong performance on England Lions' tour of South Africa A, which led to his recall to the Test fold.
Explaining his battle with depression, Trott said that he set himself unrealistically high expectations that he couldn't achieve, adding that everyone said that he averaged 90 against Australia and therefore he thought he had to get 90 every time he went into bat during the Ashes.
Ahead of the first Test match, Trott said that he has been tested on and off the field and had to go through the ringer to get there, and therefore he feels really confident he could cope and do really well, Sport24 reported.
The batsman further said that it has been a little bit frustrating being stuck on 49 (Test caps) all that time, but insisted that he was really proud of what he had achieved, adding that it would be great to get a 50th cap.
