Speaking over the Sukma encounter between security forces and Naxals, Inspector General of Police (anti-Naxal operations) R.K. Vij on Tuesday said the firing went on for quite some time, in which many Naxals were gunned down.
Though he refused to reveal the number, the IG said, "After the firing, when our jawans went to collect the bodies, they were attacked by Naxals. In the attack, five (2 STF and 3 Zila Bal) jawans were injured, and were given tactical retreat."
The injured jawans were airlifted by IAF chopper to Raipur for treatment, he added.
