Justice Tinlianthang Vaiphei, who was the acting Chief Justice here, was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Vaiphei in the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his cabinet colleagues, other justices of the high court, top administrative and security officials of the state government were present in the swearing-in-ceremony.
Justice Vaiphei, who started his law practice in Manipur in 1980 and was elevated to the Gauhati High Court as an additional judge in July 2003, replaces the first chief justice of the high court of Tripura, Deepak Kumar Gupta, who was transferred as chief justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court in May this year.
