Taylor Swift has removed all her music from music streaming website Spotify. The 'Shake It Off' hitmaker is not the first artist to pull all music from the commercial music streaming website, News.com.au reported.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, the 24-year-old pop singer's new album '1989' was bought by 700,000 people in the first two days it went on sale.

Music streaming services and file sharing have sharply cut into music sales for artists over the past couple of years.

Many artists complain that the fees Spotify pays to record labels and music publishers, with a portion eventually "funneled" to musicians, was too small.

Spotify and other streaming services only offer artists an "exposure", but A-listers musicians does not really need exposure.
