A 20 year olds passenger sparked a terror alert, claiming people armed with knives were on board in Aer Lingus Regional flight EI 3258, en route from Dublin to Edinburg.

Anti-terror cops surrounded the Aer Lingus plane at Dublin Airport after shocked airline staff called them, reports The Daily Star.

The flight to Edinburgh was delayed for about an hour as the man was detained and rushed to hospital.

The flight proceeded on its planned journey a short time later.

No one was injured during the incident.
