Tesla introduces new entry-level Model S 70D with 240m range

American electric car company Tesla has released a new entry-level Model S 70D, which offers a 70 kWh battery and all-wheel drive.

This new model of Tesla will replace the entry-level Model S 60 in the range.

According to the Engadget, the new Model S 70D offers maximum range of 240 miles, using a 70kWh battery that has replaced the 60kWh unit on its predecessor. Model S 70D will cost USD 5,000 more than the previous model and will start with a beginning price of USD 74,900.

The dual motor all-wheel drive whip will go from 0 to 60mph in just over five seconds and the car has a top speed of 140mph.

Also, the 70D comes with Autopilot, Tesla's assisted steering hardware which is pre-installed. A series of cameras and sensors around the car will keep the car in a lane on the highway, maintaining a safe speed and distance from other cars. It is different from the tech that Google is promising, but it's as close to a self-driving car anyone is likely to find in 2015.
