The London skyscraper that's melting cars with ultra-bright reflected light

Walkie Talkie City skyscraper, located in London, has been renamed Walkie Scorchie after an ultra-bright light reflected from the building melted a Jaguar car that was parked beneath it.

The 525ft, 200-million-pound-building has distinctive concave surfaces that reflect a bright beam of light that has now caused a lot of damage to vehicles that were parked beneath it, the Independent reported.

Martin Lindsay, director of a tiling company, left his Jaguar XJ for an hour opposite the building, and when he returned he found warped panels along its side, which were accompanied by a smell of burning plastic.

Eddie Cannon, a heating and air conditioning engineer, said that his Vauxhall Vevaro had similarly been gutted.

Passers-by have been forced to look away because of the blinding rays that are being emitted from glass windows that were recently installed on the south side of the 37-storey building.

The building designed by Uruguayan architect Rafael Vinoly is set to be completed in 2014.
