Time for Sharif to get army, ISI under control: Congress

Coming down heavily on Pakistan, Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday said that the former must get his army and the ISI under control for better ties with New Delhi.

"The government's stand should be they must have contacts. If they (Pakistan) have friendship with India, then their army won't have any relevance. So, this is a vested interest of the army which is talking.the ISI which is talking. It is now for the Pakistan Prime Minister to get his army and ISI under control," Singh told ANI.

The Congress leader called for long-lasting peace between the two Asian neighbours for betterment of ties in the long run.

"The fights will go on as there is vested interest of the Pakistan army, but that does not mean we should not find a solution. There must be solution and peace. There must be talks," he said.

"The progress is talks must carry on and we must have peace. India cannot afford to lose its soldiers like this. Every day, soldiers are dying.this can only stop with peace. Pakistan should make peace with India and look after their western borders," he added.

According to Express Tribune, sources in the Prime Minister's Office said that Nawaz Sharif has asked Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Aftab Sultan to form a joint investigation team, comprising Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI), to probe the Pathankot incident.

The move came after India shared with Islamabad some evidence of the Pathankot attackers' purported links to Pakistan.
