The Karnataka police have filed a case against five people, including an RSS leader and a local journalist in the Kodagu district under Section 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for religious abuse.
On November 5, a public programme was organised in Kodagu against the celebrations of Tipu Jayanti. During the programme, RSS leader Sudhakar Hosahalli, local journalist Santosh among others allegedly spoke against Tipu Sultan and demanded that the Karnataka government should not celebrate Tipu Jayanti.
Subsequently a person named Sidapur Oscar filed a complaint at the Gonikoppal Police Station against Santosh, Hosahalli, Robert Rozario, Rangakarmi Kariyappa and Bacharniyanda Appanna.
On Tuesday, the police registered the case against all five of them under Section 295 (A) which refers to "Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.
