CPI (M) leader Nilotpal Basu on Sunday accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating an atmosphere of communal polarization in West Bengal.

"We must also say that the Central Government also created conditions which really threatened the communal harmony. It tried its best to force polarization by not referring the case to the NIA, keeping it alive for seven days, while there was lot of uncertainty and doubt among the minds of the people," said Basu while reacting to West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's claim that the Burdwan blast was stage-managed by the Centre.

"So, this is a cynical game between the TMC and the BJP to create an atmosphere of communal polarization in a state, which has been traditionally an ocean of harmony during the 34 years that the Left reigned there," he added.

Basu alleged that the West Bengal Chief Minister was making such statements to conceal the facts.

"I think she is again trying to conceal the facts, where facts are very clear that she in her three and a half years rule had brazenly teamed up with Muslim communal forces and the part of the Saradha money was channeled to Bangladesh, and there was a nexus which developed. And that is why through local indulgence, both of the TMC and local police administration these people could create terror training centers and bomb making factories and so on and so forth," he said.

Addressing her party workers in Kolkata earlier on Saturday, Mamata had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi -led government of stage-managing the October 2 Burdwan blast with the objective of triggering riots in the state.

The TMC chief said the Centre, which is in charge of border security, had let in illegal immigrants into West Bengal with explosives and helped them find a house and make bombs with the objective of triggering riots in the state.
