Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has called for peace in Assam in the light of the recent unrest in Golaghat District.
"This matter is of concern for all of us. Why should the people of both states (Assam and Nagaland) quarrel only over a stretch of land? Both chief ministers, they should sit together, and this should be sorted out between the states," he said.
He also said that if necessary, the Government of India should also step in. "If necessary, the Government of India and in particular the Union Home Ministry should help them and pursue the people to realize the problems in a proper manner and sort it out," he said.
The violence in Golaghat has so far claimed 18 lives.
