The Darjeeling Police on Friday arrested two people for allegedly manhandling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in district.
Darjeeling Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Chaturvedi confirmed the arrest of the accused who have been identified as Chandan Thapa and Shanti Gurung.
Yesterday, BJP's Bengal president Dilip Ghosh, along with other party workers, was allegedly manhandled in Darjeeling by the supporters of rebel Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leader Binay Tamang.
The incident took place during Ghosh's three-day visit to the hills following unrest over the demand for a separate state.
Ghosh cancelled the public meeting after the alleged attack.
