The United States led coalition fighting against Islamic State (IS) in Syria has increased its attacks in the IS capital Raqqa with 30 airstrikes overnight, said the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
According to CNN, another opposition activist group based in Raqqa said also that 30 airstrikes targeted areas northwest of the city.
The coalition airstrikes earlier tagetted Syrian town of Kobani, bordering Turkey. The attacks in Raqqa mark an increase in coalition activity there.
The observatory said that around 100 people were killed in Syrian government airstrikes in Raqqa last week.
IS militants have made the city their de facto capital that stretches across large areas of Syria and Iraq.
