British betting site Ladbrokes has forgiven all wagers on Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final to celebrate British star Andy Murray's victory that marked the first British win in Wimbledon since 77 years.
According to the New York Daily News, the bookmaker is offering free wagers of up to 25 pounds for bettors who thought the country's Wimbledon winless streak would stretch into a 78th year and bet on Novak Djokovic.
Ladbrokes' Jessica Bridge said that it had cost them a packet but it was worth every penny seeing Murray finally get his hands on the Wimbledon trophy, with the company having to foot a bill of 250,000 pounds in gratis gambling as part of the promotion, the report said.
Bridge also said that Murray began the final as the underdog and it seemed that punters were betting with their hearts rather than their heads but they were thrilled to be proved wrong.
