Uncapped left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando has been named in the Sri Lankan Test squad as a replacement for the injured Dhammika Prasad for the upcoming two- match series against New Zealand.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the right-arm fast bowler, who suffered a back injury during his side's tour game against New Zealand Board President's XI in Queenstown, is unlikely to regain fitness for the ODI series as well.

Meanwhile, Fernando, who is all set to play in the forthcoming series, had earlier featured in the Test squad to the UAE and Bangladesh in 2014, but did not get a team.

He also bagged second-highest wickets for Sri Lanka A during their two unofficial Tests against New Zealand A in October.

The two sides will play the two-match series, starting from December 10 at the University Oval.
