Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav, who was arrested last night, while protesting on farmer's issues, was released today, but said he would continue with his protest for the sake of farmers.
Speaking to the media for the first time after being released, Yadav said that he and his associates had been detained unjustly and had not done anything wrong or illegal.
"After we were told not to march towards the Prime Minister's residence, we stopped and declared that we will simply stand at Race Course for five straight days with the plough which we have brought as a symbol of our 'satyagraha'. We were denied permission even for that," Yadav said.
A giant plough which was designed by an Indian artist to support the movement was being used as a symbol during the protest. The plough was confiscated by the police and Yadav said how it was mishandled during their detention.
"The plough which we had brought as a symbol of our cause was snatched from us, thrown on the floor and disrespected by the police. Our associates were beaten and manhandled and we were branded as criminals," he told ANI here.
Yadav spoke in detail about how he was 'mistreated' by the police during his detention.
