Asserting that unity and consensus is the solution against the terrorism, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that terrorism is currently on the path to eradication, although there is a lot to be done in this respect.
IRNA news agency quoted Rouhani as saying that the era of interfering in other countries' affairs, waging wars and funding terrorism is over and fighting terrorism is the only way ahead.
He said that Saudis should know that terrorism is a big threat to the world and there is no choice except for moderation.
Addressing his first press conference after being re-elected as Iran's president, Rouhani said that Tehran has always favoured good ties with the regional and international countries.
Emphasising that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has on several occasions verified peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program, Rouhani said Iran has always been at the forefront of combating terrorism and its image is totally clear to the world.
Speaking about U.S. President Donald Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia, he said Trump has visited a country which does not know the meaning of elections and its people never saw polling boxes.
"We hope that one day Saudi Arabia to hold elections to put an end to the hereditary rulers making the country much more powerful," he said.
Rouhani said that people in Saudi Arabia are there friends and they have always loved them and hoped the Saudi government to choose the right path.
