US woman gets life for chopping off ex-hubby's penis

A US woman, who was found guilty of cutting off her former husband's penis and putting it in a garbage disposal, has been handed life sentence for the bizarre act.

Catherine Kieu, from California, may seek parole after seven years.

According to Kieu's attorney's, she had mental health problems because she had to suffer abuse as a child and by her estranged hubby also, the BBC reported.

But the victim said that he lost part of his life and identity after the attack.

Prosecutors from Orange County, Cali., claimed that Kieu, 50, drugged her husband's food with sleeping pills and then attacked him with a knife in July 2011.

They also alleged that she had tied him to the bed.

Cops said that the couple was going through a divorce at the time of the attack.

Kieu had apparently told the officers, at the crime scene, that her husband deserved what happened to him.
